I am interested to know if there is interest in starting a new category devoted to offering ideas for others to use.

Sometimes we may have a list of hook lines, partial ideas or a verse or two we don't intend to use. I thought it would be nice to have a category where we can offer these ideas for others to pick up and use if they wish.

This category would come in handy when the mind is drawing a blank and could use some inspiration.

It would not be meant as a collaboration category as we already have, but as a give and take category.

Looking forward to hearing your responses. Thanks

Relying to myself and anyone else out there.

I am cleaning out all my extra papers and notebooks - time to purge. Doesn't anyone have the same? Was really hoping we can share all those ideas going to the waste bin.

Feel free to say it's a bad idea too.

Hello...

Hi Andrea, since Owen lives in Australia, I have suggested a song about kangaroos before. He said I could write it! I said he could write a song about his wife and children, but his songs are mainly fictional. Maybe you could write about your family! There are many things to write about, so if I get any more ideas, I will share them with you!:Excited:

Andrea, I’m not sure most are willing to share those ideas. I have hooks and lines sitting that are probably some of my better ideas but I just haven’t been able to build around them. Hopefully others will chime in with thoughts. I’d suggest you hold on to them as an idea may come to you.

Thanks Marty. I find it harder to write about myself too.

I understand M.P. Sometimes I have an idea that doesn't fit my style, or I just can't make it work. I can understand ideas are treasures, and might not be something people want to give up. I was thinking it would be a give and take, but I understand if that is not something others want.

This response resonates with my thoughts on the subject.

If others feel this is a good idea, or want to participate, fine, by all means.
As for me, my music notebooks are FULL of ideas that have not yet reached their time.

I consider these ideas to be my intellectual property and refuse to share them with anyone.
This is the source from which my songs spring.
I can hardly wait to bring forth many great new ideas. IMHO
But keeping them under wraps helps to add to the excitement at release.

Sorry if that sounds selfish, but the future of my songs lives in my notebooks.
Each one waits to be called on, like a child raising their hand to be recognized by the teacher.
Each anxious to be called on to share and enter in to the discussion.

I have no way of knowing which ones will be overlooked forever.
If I knew, I would give them a new home. I hope you understand, Andrea.

If you want to post some ideas and see if others will share, you should.
I am personally invested in my own ideas. I even wrote a song AGAINST others
giving me song ideas. (Kandy Korn - I don't do requests)

I see your points. I am not sure I feel the exact same way. I like to believe something good would come from a give and take. Maybe I saw it more like a mini brainstorming place: The more heads, the better.

For now, it is back to business as usual :)

I agree with you.
It's just not something that would work for me.

If others would find it helpful, you have my blessing. For what it's worth.

Let's try something just for fun.
I will create an unanswered riddle to think through.
I don't have an answer in mind.
But the challenge is to come up with a song idea.

Tree rhymes with sea, but what is the connection?

There we go. Good start.

is waiting there to see

Excellent!

Now write a lyrical line or two. (or a verse if you can't stop) - lol

Last night I was at a concert listening to a bunch of really good bands playing their original music (and some covers).

I must have been thinking about the tree/sea connection, because this image of a little island surrounded by nothing but the sea popped into my head. On this little island is a tall palm tree. I think I have my connection, and a few sparse pieces. I will see if I can turn this into some verses.

I will try to add to the other idea too.

From my family tree to shining sea -
there's a road in front of me
Where all I'm meant to be -
is waiting there to see

I've just one small bag that I have packed
with all my necessities
much more I take with me
lessons that I've learned
loving memories
