Just like to thank all of you that have shown me support over the last two years. After looking over many of my works while trying to learn to play guitar and sing I’ve come to the realization that I do not have the time in life to dedicate to playing or writing. And having recently reviewed many of my works, though I could hear them in my head, when it comes to putting them to music, I’m just not sure they’re where they need to be, and I certainly don’t have the voice or means to do them justice. I’ve still got tons of ideas but my fire has kind of fizzled. Too many ideas, too little time, and I’m not where I feel I need to be. I may check in from time to time and wish you all the best of luck in your endeavors. Sometimes dreams die out of necessity more so than want. Best wishes! M.P.

I hate to hear it MP. I’ve always put you at the top of the class as far as lyricists go around here.
I agree, it is a time consuming hobby. And I hope you keep at it, you definitely have talent.

Definitely sounds like you need a break M.P.
But you may find yourself coming back to it in time.
My feeling is you won't be able to stop yourself from writing in the long run.
We will certainly miss you here, and you will be welcome any time you choose to drop in.
I hope I get a chance to work with you again in the future.
Best of luck my friend.

I wish you well. As the drummer from Duran Duran once told me when I met him on a Dallas Texas city bus.. "Don't ever let anyone else take your dreams away from you." Be well.

It's all too true that other things in life require our attention aside from writing. I believe you have a great talent. and I will miss reading your lyrics :( :(

Keep the pilot burning! When the spark hits, you can start up that fire again.

Hope to see you around for your thoughts and feedback.

Do what you need to do, and approach all of it with a clear head, unencumbered by all the other stuff. One of the greatest things any one has EVER written about songwriting is "If you are a songwriter, EVERYTHING that goes past your eyes is songwriting fuel."

That is from none other than Keith Richards, and it seems to have worked for him.

Thanks Tekboy, I’m actually back after a short absence. It was like I lost all ability and I was beside myself. It’s coming back and I actually feel like a fool for having posted this now. First time I’d had that problem for that long. I think I learned from it though. I’ll accept it and give it more time next time. Thought I was burned out I think.

I have been there. Sometimes it seems that I can't string anything together, and coupled with intermittent physical problems, it just seems, somehow, unrewarding. But some of my best ones happen in the shower, and I have to jump out, grab pen and writing tablet, and furiously write it down. A couple of my best ones happened that way.

And then the "light of day" happens, and it all starts flowing again. I guess there are seasons to everything in life. I have found that taking a long range point of view is useful. :)

Tekboy, I like your take on things. I too have song ideas in the shower. Unfortunately I think/know I’ve forgotten some of the best lines I’ve ever come up with. Glad your back sir!
