I’ve been foolish, all of my days
And it seems I’ve played a fool
Chasing dreams I haven’t made
Fills my heart with the blues

For one night in heaven
I’d sell my soul into hell
To quench these flames of desire
You’ve put me under your spell

There’s a scar for every sunset
That I don’t spend with you
Each passing day’s another dream
That keeps waiting to come true

There’s a scar on my heart
Even one on my soul
You’d think by now I would learn
Sometimes it’s best to let go

In morning thoughts you’re with me
Right where you’ve been for years
I still carry this want too
It’s the other way I fear

I can’t seem to come to grips with
The fact that we don’t share
Every single sunset
Just reminds me you’re not here

There’s a scar for every sunset
That I don’t share with you
Each passing day’s another dream
That keeps waiting to come true

There’s a scar on my heart
Even one on my soul
You’d think by now I would learn
Sometimes it’s best to let go

There’s a scar on my heart
For every sunset we don’t share
While we may not be together
I still long to someday share

Every single sunset

Another great and original song concept.
I like it.

I wonder about this verse.
You seem to be saying you are not with this person, thus the scars.
But then you write this.

"In the morning you’re with me
Right where you’ve been for years
I still carry this want too
It’s the other way I fear"

Is she with you in your mind? Or what does this mean?

Maybe, "In my waking thoughts you're with me" (or dreams)
Something like that?

- Sketch

These are very emotional lyrics. I like this.

I do agree with Sketch that this verse is confusing.

"In the morning you’re with me
Right where you’ve been for years
I still carry this want too
It’s the other way I fear"

That is what I was trying to imply Steve. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks Andrea, I will have to change that verse.

I felt like the song hit its straps at
There’s a scar for every sunset
so maybe those first two verses need some attention.
The later verses are all written as if directly to the other person, so maybe those first two could move in that direction too.

Thanks for the look Owen, I’ll see what I can come up with.
