I'll be your friend

Link to music

The lord sets a burden on our shoulders
Sometimes it feels like more than we can bear
As the night closes in, and it gets colder
I'll be there

Brother won't you share your load with me
We'll carry it together till the end
And if I can't take the weight from your shoulders
I'll be your friend

Chorus:
I'll be your friend when the demons are calling
When the black dog is barking at your door
I'll be your friend when those voices say
You just can't take it anymore
I'll be your friend

Some friends have faltered by the wayside
Left you to struggle on your own
Just remember when your strength is at its ebb
You're not alone

I can surely follow in your footsteps
If I can't walk a mile in your shoes
Take my hand, help me understand
Your blues

CHORUS

Bridge:
Head hanging low like a man condemned
Hoping and a-praying for this pain to end
I'll be with you, broken or bent till the end

CHORUS

Thank You Jesus! Owen, this IS gospel music. An amazing masterpiece I will call it. You get to the core of what life really is meant to be for all of us! Peace to all

Nice work, Owen.

I partially agree with Marty, this has a gospel feel.
Though, I see it as secular music with a Christian worldview.

Definitely some strong biblical references. Specifically burden carrying.
Dark spiritual forces of evil that come against us.
And even the Good Samaritan.

As I say to nearly everyone, I would like to hear more dynamic range.
Specifically the bridge could have used something, whether a breakdown or a big build up.
Maybe both. (build to BIG final chorus/ending)

I'm guessing you did all the instruments? And programmed drums?
I like the nice clean guitar part. The addition of a soulful lead guitar part would have been a nice touch.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Steve.

I agree with you on the guitar lead. I haven't come up with one yet, but I can see the need.

Not sure about the build on the bridge, but I'll give that some thought.

I'm likely to make further changes to this, as there is quite a bit of hiss on the guitar track, so I'll likely re-record that.

I may tone the drums down a little too.

And yes, I played or programmed all the various parts.

Well, at least you liked the lyric!

The link still seems to be working ok (at least for me).
You could trying pasting the following directly into your browser and see if that works better:

Thanks for looking!
