When my I love you falls silent on your ears
And I'm laid back into the cold hard ground
Please speak of me at my eulogy
Espouse to all what I believed
Talk about those I loved
And our ride across the miles

Make sure my family and my friends all know
That the greatest gift they've ever given to me
Was the honor of my knowing them
We've laughed and grown but then again
I still got one last gift to give
My gifts the memories

I'll never be further than a thought away
If you care to see my smile do the same
Chances are that you'll forget
My voice in time but don't be upset
Cause someday you will give the same
Gift of memories

If I didn't get to tell you I was sorry
For something that I may have put you through
Please take from me apologies
I ask of you to forgive me
I've never been a perfect man
But all I held was love for you

And lastly for my wife and son
We all feared this day we knew would come
There aren't enough analogies
To help the hurt and stop the grief
Just know that you were my world
And my gifts the memories

I'll never be further than a thought away
If you care to see my smile do the same
Chances are that you'll forget
My voice in time but don't be upset
Cause someday you will give the same
Gift of memories

I still love you all
Please heed the call
And my gift of memories

For the record, I didn't ACTUALLY cry when I read this. No matter what anyone tells you. It kind of hit home because we recently lost a very precious man in our lives. I wold make one- and only one structural change based on the tempo I read it in:
And lastly for my wife and son,
We all feared this day we knew would come.

Knowing you are typically a slower-tempo writer, I imagine it works well As Is (pun intended)

Sorry for your loss JB. And if you did,no biggie, that would be a great compliment. That would just mean that it hit home and that is what I set out to accomplish. Thanks for the reply and I will look into that.

This song is beyond amazing! It sounds like a Country-Christian crossover hit like Rascal Flatts' "Bless the Broken Road" or Carrie Underwood's "Sometihng in the Water"!
