I passed a poor man
With holes in his jeans
By the looks of him he'd spent
Most of his life in need

I said excuse me sir
Can I get you anything
He said son I got it all
Cause I believe

You see the holes in these jeans I've earned
On bended knees
They're not from me working alone
They're also from my pleas

This life that I live is not what I chose
But fate as a whole
Is much less known
So I see them as lessons in life
These holes in my jeans

What you see on the outside
Isn't what lies within
And it's time that this crazy old world
Knows that He's paid for our sins

Your money means nothing to me
Cause I'm already saved
And The little bit that I own
Is more than I'll take to my grave

You see the holes in these jeans I've earned
On bended knees
They're not from work alone
They're mostly from my pleas

This life that I live is not what I chose
But fate as a whole
Is much less known
So I see them as lessons in life
These holes in my jeans

Sir I thank you for your concern
But I'll be just fine
And If you need some holy jeans
I can lend you mine

They're ripped and they're torn
Just be forewarned
He paid for it all with a crown of thorns
I won't judge you if you say no to
These holes in my jeans

I'm still living above my means
With these holes in my jeans

I like everything about this except the "holy jeans" line. That feels to me like a bad pun that makes light of the rest of the song. That may be a personal reaction, so it's best to get a few opnions- and stick to your guns if you think it's what the song needs. But it jarred me when I got there.

Rainydayman, I agree, it was late and I settled. I've changed the verse below. Hope it has a better feel. Unfortunately ive now lost the tune that I had in my head and see room for possibly more changes. Thanks for the response.
