One of the best pieces of advice that a recording engineer ever taught me is to NEVER mix with cans on. Always use monitors and NEVER mix with monitors after having cans on all day--wait a few hours or do it the next day so your heaing can adjust.
Of course I didn't think he knew what he was talking about until I did a mix that just sounded fantastic in headphones. After final mastering and mixdown, I went to play the CD in my truck. Egads what a mistake. The bass end was so bad that it bottomed out the subwoofer on my Bose. I now follow his advice to the letter.
I still have a few problems with some clipping on tracks when playing harder than what I expected. I test set the the faders for cranking hard to make certain they don't do that but when there isn't anyone at the console to monitor (by yourself) it is touch and go sometimes.
Anyway...for what its worth.
Your song sounds cool I like it. Boost the guitar track some more as the drums are too loud. I can also hear some horn stabs in there if you can do that?

I just got the bass track e-mail to me so I'm going to sync that up when I get time. I'm also having a drummer lay down some drum tracks, the guy is awsome, his name is Doug Deets. Hands down the best drummer I've heard. He lives in philly so we are doing things over the phone, email and snail mail.
I just found his myspace page. The band is called easily amused. They credit their influence to drugs and alcohol, LOL! Must be from Philly! Under Band Members, says "yes, all of us in the band still have our members".

The travel from philly to pittsburgh was too much so he left after I had been with the band for about a year. I left the band as I saw Doug thinking about quitting. So I don't get to play with him much anymore, but Doug and I have been friends for 20yrs so if I ever really need him I can count on him.

ya gotta love Philly humor.
Yea, that's his band. I don't know if he is the drummer on any of the recordings. I don't think he's been in the studio since he joined. Doug is a very funny guy!
Mike, I you can post a link for me, I haven't been able to find that.

Yea, Doug is the cat with the hat on, and Josh Smith is a friend of mine...we call him JT. We were all in Dougs wedding in Philly. Jt's uncle is the guy that wrote that song. I remember Doug telling me about that but I didn't know about the PACT thing.
