Other than Americana/Country my tastes ran more toward The Clash,The Tubes, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, in the 80s in the 70s it was the Allmans and of course Marshall Tucker (being from SC) as well as every blues album I could find. And of course Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper's and Thick as a Brick were a must have in my opinion.

I was a big fan of the Allman Bros and the Marshall Tucker Band, as well.
Especially Duane Allman with my slide guitar playing. Was also a HUGE fan of Johnny Winter.
The Second Winter album was my first exposure. Also loved Johnny Winter And - Live
And the little-known studio album - Johnny Winter And, which was really great but mostly ignored.
An early appearance of Rick Derringer, and some great songwriting on that album.
