|Job was a very pious, rich and happy man mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible.
The devil made a bet with God that he could make Job lose his faith. God said, "fine. You can test him how you will, but you can't kill him."
His crops were destroyed, as were his many sheep and other animals, also his wife and kids died.
His friends turned on him, but he never failed, even after his wife told him to " curse God and die" to be done with his earthly misery.
He refused. Devil lost his wager and had to restore to Job even more than had been stolen from him.
He never faltered and God was quite pleased with him (excuse the poor, if mostly accurate retelling of the old parable.)
